Planning a trip to Maui and torn between the Marriott Maui Ocean Club and the various Westin properties in Kaanapali? You’re not alone! Each of these resorts offers a unique slice of paradise, but which one is the best fit for your dream vacation? Let’s dive into the details and find out. We’ll compare the following hotels:

  • Marriot Maui Ocean Club
  • Westin North and South Kaanapali Villas
  • Westin Hotel at Kaanapali
  • Westin Nanea

Kaanapali Beach offers a unique blend of luxury and convenience that sets it apart from other parts of the island of Maui. With its soft golden sands and crystal-clear waters, it’s the perfect spot for both relaxation and adventure. Unlike some of the more secluded beaches, Kaanapali is lined with top-notch resorts, providing easy access to the beach and a range of amenities. Imagine waking up to the sound of waves and stepping out of your hotel room straight onto the beach with your freshly brewed coffee in hand – pure bliss!

One of the standout features of Kaanapali Beach is its family-friendly atmosphere. The gentle waves and shallow waters make it a safe and enjoyable spot for kids to swim and play. Families can also enjoy a variety of activities together, from snorkeling at Black Rock to exploring the nearby Whalers Village, which offers shopping, dining, and even cultural experiences like traditional Hawaiian hula shows. There’s something for everyone, ensuring that both kids and adults have a memorable vacation.

For those seeking adventure, Kaanapali Beach is a haven for water sports. Snorkeling at Black Rock is a must, where you can swim alongside vibrant marine life, including colorful fish and giant sea turtles. Paddleboarding, jet skiing, and parasailing are also popular activities that will get your adrenaline pumping.

But what truly sets Kaanapali Beach apart is its vibrant atmosphere and stunning sunsets. The beach comes alive with a mix of locals and tourists, creating a lively and welcoming environment. As the day winds down, the sunsets at Kaanapali are nothing short of magical, with the sky painted in hues of orange and pink, casting a golden glow over the ocean.

Access and Ease of Getting to the Beach

Most of these hotels are connected via the boardwalk that follows the beach/perimeter of this part of the island. The Maui Ocean Club weaves off of the boardwalk a bit, but there are signs for how to pretty easily get to the boardwalk again. All of these hotels are truly right on Kaanapali Beach, so you can’t go wrong with which hotel is directly on the beach. Below are some finer details about each hotel.
